What We’re About

I first mowed the neighborhood lawns as a kid — like a lot of us did — but my real love for grass started when my wife, kids, and I bought our first home in 2021. The big selling point was the amazing wooded backyard. I pictured our kids exploring, growing up outside, and us hosting friends for years to come. But when I say it was “amazing,” I mean it had amazing potential. In reality, it was an overgrown mess — way too many trees, years of leaf buildup, massive areas of english ivy, and a forest floor where grass had never grown.

I spent the next year cutting down trees, clearing brush, grading the land with dump-truck loads of dirt (like 10-15 of them), and prepping the soil — all just to be ready to seed in a year! Many people told me grass wouldn’t grow in that much shade — but I was determined. I researched seed cultivars and did everything possible to help make it grow. And that fall, it did! It came in lush, thick, and beautiful, and we absolutely loved playing and hanging out back there.

Since then, I’ve kept shaping the yard closer to my original vision, learning everything I can about growing, improving, and keeping good grass. Somewhere along the way, I realized this wasn’t just a hobby — it was what I wanted to spend my days doing. So in the summer of 2025, I went for it, just like I did with my backyard back in 2021.

Welcome to Good Grass. We believe a great lawn isn’t just something to look at — it’s where the good stuff in life happens. Our mission is to create lawns worth livin’ on: spaces for bare feet, backyard games, and lasting memories.
